The Board of Education for School District #33 (SD#33) and the BC Public School Employers` Association (BCPSEA) have the following agreements with the Chilliwack Teachers` Association (CTA) and the British Columbia Teachers` Federation (BCTF): most of the B.C. Teachers will be back at work on Monday, although from home, and will try to figure out how to set up learning amid the social distancing requirements caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A tweet from the B.C. Teachers` Federation (BCTF) says the board is recommending acceptance of the agreement. The contract applies to teachers working in 60 B.C school districts. The BCTF said in the tweet that the deal was reached after “marathon” negotiation sessions this week. From time to time, local institutions and the district agree to changes in the language of the collective agreement formalized through Letters of Agreement (LOUs). The LOUs are part of the collective agreement. A preliminary agreement has been reached with the 45,000 teachers in British Columbia`s public schools. The collective agreement attempts to define all the current terms and conditions of employment contained in the provincial and local affairs collective agreement between BCTF and BCPSEA under the Public Education Labour Relations Act, as these conditions are applicable to this school district.
